Content Standards

PaperSpill is a website meant for relaxation and friendly socializing and, in order to maintain these goals, it has a series of standards that prohibit the display of content involving:

a. Threats and promotion of harm

We do not allow the issuing of threats to other people or to public safety, as well as attempts to organize acts of violence or various forms of attacks (such as cyber-attacks). We take safety very seriously and do not recommend even joking about such topics, especially when your real intentions appear unclear to most other people.

We also do not allow promoting actions that have led or could lead to physical, financial, personal or any kind of harm to others (including vandalism, slandering or breaches of privacy).

b. Promotion of self-harm

We do not allow the encouragement of any form of self-harm or the promotion of cultures that encourage such behaviors (such as pro-ana).

c. Violence

PaperSpill does not permit graphic content that displays violence in real life or extreme violence in movies, TV shows and similar sources. We will also remove any content posted for sadistic effect or that promotes violence in any way.

d. Nudity

PaperSpill does not allow the display of nudity, be it in a sexual or a non-sexual context. Also, we do not permit any explicitly sexual content involving a minor.

e. Bullying and Harassment

We do not tolerate any aggressive behavior directed at private individuals, including offensive conduct that affects other users or slander aimed at non-users or celebrities. Harassing users with unwanted messages or chain mail is also prohibited.

f. Hate speech and controversial issues

PaperSpill encourages users to discuss on a broad range of subjects and express various and challenging opinions, but we do not allow attacks on individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition.

Also, you may freely express your opinions on controversial issues, but you will not use PaperSpill to organize a campaign on behalf of a side in a controversial dispute, such as the abortion debate.

g. Promoting illegal or regulated goods

Illegal drugs and other goods may be the subject of discussion but will not be encouraged or glorified on PaperSpill.

Likewise, in an effort to maintain this website suitable for minors (over 13), we do not allow the promotion of substances such as alcohol and tobacco.

h. Intellectual Property

Content posted on PaperSpill must not violate any copyrights, trademarks, patents or any such rights. We advise you to check that you have the right to share what you are posting.

Also, in the interest of originality and to avoid conflict with other sites, we ask that you do not post materials from other sites as they are, even if they are freeware, and instead transform and combine them according to your own ideas.

i. Attempts to compromise security and privacy

Spam, phishing, deception, fraud and anything that violates our security policy (see Security) will result in your account being terminated. You are advised to report users that undertake such activities and, while we cannot promise that they will be immediately excluded, we will do our best to investigate.

In addition to these, we also ask you not to use memes and rage comics, simply because they are not in accordance with our chosen style. If you prefer to use memes, there are plenty of other websites that are more suited to your interests.

Safety precautions

We also encourage some extra precautions for personal security:

a. We strive to make PaperSpill safe for minors over 13. If you have a child under 13, we strongly caution you regarding his access to our site.

b. It is generally advisable not to use the same password for various sites, as you face a combined risk to your accounts if one of these sites is compromised.

c. PaperSpill will not ask you to share private information such as your home address or Social Security Number and other users do not have the right to ask you about them.

d. We do not check URLs posted by users in posts, comments, messages or on their profiles. If you click on them, you will do so at your own risk. Be aware that even links to trusted sites can make use of the cookies stored on your computer for operations you would not have otherwise allowed.

e. PaperSpill does not require downloading any additional plugins or files. Directly accessing an image address may prompt you to download it, but that is not necessary in order to view it on our site and you will agree to download it and anything else at your own risk.

f. While we do our best to filter out the users that violate our Terms of Use (see Account Termination), we cannot guarantee that all users are trustworthy. PaperSpill does not instantly accord credibility to any information they might share, such as their identity or location.

This list of safety precautions is not exhaustive; we strive to think of every problem that might arise regarding our site, but we cannot anticipate all of them.

We make no warranty that our services will meet your requirements, be safe, secure, uninterrupted, timely, accurate, or error-free, or that your information will be secure.

We are not responsible for the content, data, or actions of third parties, and you release us from any claims and damages, known and unknown, arising out of or in any way connected with any claim you have against any such third parties. No advice or information, whether oral or written, obtained by you from us or through or from our services creates any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms of Use.

PaperSpill will not be liable to you or to any other party for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages, including but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, goodwill, use, data, or other intangible losses, regardless of whether we were advised of the possibility of such damage.

We might amend our Terms of Use in order to achieve greater clarity, for legal or administrative purposes or to encompass newly added functionalities. Unless these changes are minor, we will announce them 7 days prior through a special page dedicated to it (not through posts or private messages). Continuing to use our site after that time has elapsed signifies your agreement with our amendments.

Other Terms

If we fail to enforce any of these provisions, it will not be considered a waiver. If any provision or part of a provision of these Terms of Use is unenforceable, that provision or part of the provision is deemed severable from these Terms of Use and will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and all other provisions of these Terms of Use will remain in full force and effect.
